TRUTH.coffeecult launches…officially!

CAPE TOWN, 24 FEBRUARY, 2010 – Charismatic leader and coffee evangelist David Donde launched his new coffee brand and café, TRUTH.coffeecult on Wednesday at the Prestwich Memorial, Somerset Road, Greenpoint.

Cape Towns elite, including Josie Boraine, Malcolm Kluk, Christiaan Gabriel Du Toit and Craig Port, attended an elegant and stylish breakfast launch at TRUTH, enjoying the magnificent views of Table Mountain and top class jazz by Tones of Note, featuring Rus Nerwich on the saxophone.

VIP Guests were spoilt for choice by Donde’s new coffee offering, which he roasts onsite at TRUTH, choosing between iced coffees, cappuccinos, lattes, espressos and filter coffees. Fabulous petit Parisian macaroons, chocolate brownies and pistachio and white chocolate shortbread by Daniela’s Deliciously Decadent were also on the menu.

Not only were guests treated by TRUTH, but passers by were too when Donde decided to run a street promotion during the launch, offering passers by a free coffee if they convert and bring a friend to TRUTH.coffeecult.

“Finally a chance for us to evangelise the simple elegance of coffee. A strong team and a showcase for what can be done with amazing green beans on a vintage coffee roaster. I think this should get us some converts?”, comments David Donde, owner and creator of TRUTH.

Donde has always had fervour for exceptional tasting coffee and following his desire to provide the highest quality coffee beans and perfect-tasting coffee to Capetonians and South Africa alike, the TRUTH brand was born.

With over a decade of experience in the coffee trade, Donde leads the way as he strives to produce world-class coffee – adhering to his personal philosophy that “coffee is a process, not a destination”.

With no frills, no pretence, no roasts set to baffle and perplex, the TRUTH brand seeks to reduce the elegance of exquisite coffee to its simplest, honest essence – an ethos reflected in the choice of name.

The cafe’s central location at the Prestwich Memorial is unique with elegant architectural design that enjoys the last remaining piece of the Sea Point tramway track. The design of the café itself displays an intellectual basis on Bauhaus “form follows function”- it focuses on clean lines and simplicity. “The space has a feeling of sanctuary and is one of the few gracefully quiet, green spaces in Cape Town, reminding one of the oasis one gets in parks in certain parts of New York City”, says Donde.
